Well I didn't want to until I had smoked for forty years. When smoking become a habit instead of a choice that I enjoyed. I was smoking about a pack and a half a day towards the end. I didn't know which end I was headed for, the end of smoking or the end of my life.
The progression of quitting it the desire to keep smoking even though you want to quit. I knew I was getting close to quitting, when I started smoking the cheap brands and telling myself that they taste good. The breathing thing also makes you start to thinking' about twenty years down the road. Will I be able to do what I want and need to do if I keep smoking? So it was a health question and later a money question too.
I was the weak one. I could not quit. I need that cigarette even through they were starting to taste bad. I did keep telling myself I need to quit. So started the long journey to quit smoking.
Nicotine Patches
I tried them and the warning didn't scare me to not smoke while wearing the patch. So the patch worked for about a box full of patches.Nicotine Gum
This was the worst tasting stuff I ever tried to chew so before that was gone I quit the gum. (I never understood how you could quit smoking by taking the one thing you are trying to quit: nicotine?)Reduction Filters
They fit on the cigarette. The filters reduce the nicotine you were getting by restricting the amount of nicotine you could get from the first cigarette. If you used the same filter on a second cigarette then it would not restrict the nicotine amount as effectively. Natural Quit
This one I thought was the one. It was a seminar with hypnotizing by concentration. We were asked to concentrate on one location and I guess this made you not want to smoke. The hook was they sold you vitamins and natural pills to help you with the nicotine urge. (This one did not work at all; when we got out of the seminar we bought a pack of cigarettes.Low Level Laser Treatment
This one worked. We stopped smoking going on four years. You will not believe how well this treatment worked. We drove down to the office and on the way smoked a pack of cigarettes. We left four cigarettes just in case this didn't work again. We went into the office and the technician seated you in a room and put these weird glasses on you and he had a pair on too. He starts up the machine and uses this wand, which has a light coming out of it. The technician passes the light over your ears, arms, wrists, knees and legs. He says ok you are done. Take some vitamin c when you get home to help with the nausea. I say “what “ he said you are done and there will be no urge for a cigarette.
The wife and I leave the office and get in the truck and head for the house. We have the four cigarettes there and either one of us wants to smoke. I could not believe that we were cured without the urge for a cigarette. This was always the way it was before and like I said before we are on our fourth year without any want to start smoking. You do have an occasional want for something but you don't want to smoke. This was a lifesaver for me; I knew I could not quit if I had the urge so it has been great. You can give it a try and see if it works for you if you really want to quit smoking this is it.
There is one more way to stop smoking but I did not try it. Prescription prescribed for stop smoking from a doctor. I have heard of success this way, but I have not heard of any problem with back sliding with the laser method.
You can research it on the Internet under smoking laser. The big word is painless. If you really want to quit without excuses this is it. You save about 10,000 dollars in five years. GOOD LUCK and be smoke free.
