You are old-school. If you are currently in your 20's or 30's, or even early 40's, and you choose to smoke cigarettes, cigars or anything commercially produced, you, my sorry friend are a product of your environment. You are old school.
What do I mean when I use the term Old School? I'm being polite. I'm trying to express that you are living in past times. You are, in a way, being quite stubborn. If you were born in the last 35 years (1973 on) you should be very aware of the damage you are doing to your health, and the health of anyone who is in the presence of you when you choose to light up.
In this day and age, it is common knowledge that smoking anything is bad for us. Cigarettes are the leading cause of cancer related death. If you still smoke, and you are in your 20's or 30's, you are clearly unaware of how things are these days. Sad to say, you are ignorant. However, sadly enough, you may suffer from an addictive personality. If you find yourself craving your vices (drugs, tobacco, alcohol) you may be a victim of an addictive personality. In such a case, you are now recognized as an individual who is at risk of risky behavior. I urge you to seek health from a professional counselor.
What I really want to get at is my opinion of those who think they are cool or attractive, when they smoke. I'm 23. I'm young; I come from a northern state. Health and fitness are thought of differently here. I have to admit. I wasn't raised to respect my health. I've traveled throughout the US, and I can say that I'm very discouraged by what I've experienced, especially in the northeast.
As a young member of society, I've come to realize that things are changing. America is no longer a country that relies exclusively on working class Americans. We are beyond the old ways of the industrial era. We need to realize this, as members of generation X (1965-1982), or millennial's (1983-2001).
We are no longer a country of rough and tumble, working class, tough guys and gals. We have advanced beyond that point. We should now be willing to accept different cultures, perspectives, and adapt to new ideals. It isn't about being 70's, 80's or 90's COOL these days.
To be racist, sexist, or discriminate against people because of there sexual preference shows that, yes, you are old school.
So I get to the theme of my article. If you are young (a millennial) and you still look at things from a classic rock perspective. You might want to evaluate your coolness.
Look at life from a fresh perspective.
If you think you are tough. Cigarettes, drugs, anger and booze won't hurt you. You may want to think twice. Science and technology rule, these days. You may be tough, but you aren't immortal.
Good Health!
