It doesn't discriminate, as you recover you will realise that
Old friends were not what you thought, using addicts can be jealous,
Using addicts don't like to see old friends become clean, be careful because
They were not your true friend's, just acquaintances; you just acquainted yourself with them
People became objects.
First things first!
It is essential that you get rid of all drug paraphernalia
Regarding your using, telephone numbers, old stashed pipes,
Anything in the house that you may have
Relating to your drug- drugs of choice.
If you are going on a daily journey to the shops for example
That you have done many times, stop, and THINK
You can now change your route, away form were your Old acquaintances will be.
Help to take the problem out of your vision.
You are not running away from the problem doing this, by doing this,
You are just being sensible and careful for your own safety.
If you have a G.C.S.E. A level or degree
Then your addict has the same
It's insidious and stealth like
So be careful!
Write about your final day of using in depth
From the moment you got out of bed
To the moment you went to sleep (if you slept!)
Use this as your motivational tool for
Staying clean.
Remember it is so important to remember
Were you come from, why you are here at this point.
Today-your recovery depends on this.
Honesty is an integral part to the beginning of your recovery
Try to be honest with others, that way you are being honest
With yourself, this is the foundation of your recovery.
Honesty can take practice.
So be patient.
If professionals tell you as they sit back
In there sumptuous leather chair
‘Have you thought about controlling your
Drug use ‘Think, Think and Think
If I need help to control, then obviously it is out
Of control, or I wouldn't need to oppress, Hmmmm!!
No one can take away your story of the struggle and pain
Of addiction from you, it's yours to keep.
But be aware that it is now in the
Past: let it motivate you to have a better
Present and future.
Reflect on your addictive life as a
Cycle of existence, because that is what we did,
Was to exist, think about how your cycle affected you
Seek to break the cycle and replace it with
A healthy, new chain of your choice.
peace and keep writing on revcovery.
