It was almost one week ago (December 9, 10.00pm) that I was having my final cigarette, the last one in my packet. I thought to myself, I better go and buy some more, but then thought otherwise.
Here are some tips and theories to ponder …
- I once read Allan Carr's “Easy way To Give Up Smoking” book and came across an interesting passage. “If you were to give me $1,000 right now, I would supply you with cigarettes for the rest of your life?” Would you do this?
- Take each day at a time. For the first few days it was very hard, but keep positive and don't give in. Sip water and deep breathing will help.
- I worked out if I spent $20 a week on cigarettes until I was 75, I would have blown $52,000. That's almost half my mortgage. You could do a lot with $20 a week.
- I've been waking up much more motivated. I used to sleep through my alarm clock almost everyday and now I wake up alive and well. It's amazing!
- Clothes smelling much better. After a day of smoking, your clothes smell horrible, no more of that thank god!
It has only been a week but feel like I have kicked it once and for all, I have tried many of times, failing everytime, but this time with a positive attitude I think I've finally done it. When trying to give up, just remember when you feel that craving, how much money you will save and how much better you will feel for the rest of your life. I didn't even bother with the patches or gum, It's all about what's in the mind.
I wish the best of luck to anyone trying become smokefree.
