Tips on How to Stop Smoking

What did people do before the invention of all of the overpriced over-the-counter aids?

Time and time again, I've heard complaints from individuals who have tried some of the over-the-counter medicines and items to supposedly help them to stop smoking. The majority of the people say that these things do not seem to make it any easier for them to stop smoking.

What did people do years ago before we had all these invention of stop smoking programs? They quit cold turkey. These companies do not care if you stop smoking, they have invented their product for the sole purpose of making sales.

Here are just a couple of tips to help you while you are trying to “kick the habit”

Focus your mind on other thing.

This is not always easy. Call a friend or a relative and just chit chat, take your kids to the park, clean house, exercise… whatever it takes.

Find something else to hold.

Your hand is use to holding that cigarette. Hold a pencil, doodle with it occasionally.

Chew gum.

This really does help a lot of people. Just make sure you use gum or breath mints and not food . Replacing smoking with eating can cause sudden obesity.

Nerves.

If you find yourself being nervous, irritable, or have any other symptoms, talk to your Doctor about prescribing you something temporarily to help you relax. However, this should only be used as a last resort.

That is hitting the nail on the head. You need to have the will to want to quit smoking, none of those "Quit smoking help" works it just puts money in the manufacturers pocket.
Very well written article, thank you.

This is such an important lesson for all those that still smoke. I smoked for over 20 years, up to 2 packs a day. I ended up giving it up cold turkey 6 years ago on the anniversary of my father\'s death. n addition to all you said I\'d suggest to use an event such as that as an inspiration. Very well intended and written. Michael
