The wrinkling of our skin is due to the cause of the Sun, gravity, and our facial expressions. Whenever we laugh or cry the skin on our face contracts and we get wrinkles. We are constantly folding and unfolding our skin whenever we express our emotions. The creases are worn into our faces after a while.
Also, if you have naturally dark skin, you'll also experience less wrinkling. The skin coloring helps protect you from the Sun's rays. UV radiation from the sun penetrates the skin and wears down the skin structures underneath which supports our skin. The skin structures in our skin, or dermis, contains collagen fibers which holds our skin together.
Gravity also plays an important factor in the wrinkling of our skin. Skin droops because of being pulled down by gravity. This results in baggy eyes or saggy skin.
However, cigarette smokers also experience more wrinkling. Studies show that smokers then to wrinkle more than those that don't smoke at all. They wrinkle around five times faster. Scientists believe that this is because smoking wears down the collagen in your skin. Also, the smoke from the cigarette gets in your eyes and makes you squint.
