How to Get Rid of a Wart Without Medicine or Surgery

Do you need to get rid of that wart on your foot?

A couple of weeks ago, my son came in from playing outside, kicked off his shoes, and headed off to the shower. Nothing was out of the ordinary. After his bath, he came over and showed me a tiny raised area on his foot. At first, it appeared that there was a possibility that he had a splinter in the ball of his foot, but that was not the case at all. We soon realized that the bump on my son's foot was not getting any better. There was no splinter. We headed off to the pediatrician for a diagnosis and advice.

As we had suspected, my son had a wart on his foot. The doctor reminded us that this was not a big deal or anything to be extremely alarmed about. My son immediately declared that they needed to remove the wart and cut it off with some kind of surgery. This was not the case at all.

We could use Compound W to remove the wart from the bottom of my son's foot. This option was suggested by our pediatrician. She told us this product works wonderfully to clear up warts on children, but then she gave us another idea.

After explaining that the wart was caused by a virus, she offered an idea that required no surgery, chemicals, or medication.

Instead of using harsh chemicals or surgery to remove the wart, you can simply get rid of it by smothering the virus. To smother the virus that causes the wart, you can use a piece of duct tape. It will take consistency and several weeks to completely remove the wart and kill the virus that caused it, but the results are worth it.

Place a piece of duct tape over the wart like you would a band aid. This is not painful at all. Keep the duct tape in place until it gets dirty or damp. Of course, remove it during a bath or shower, but replace it with a new piece after you are completely dry.

Kids, in particular, will love to use the new colored duct tape that are available. My son was particularly fond of the camouflage style and the yellow. To kids, covering the wart with duct tape may be more exciting than using character bandages. Plus, it sounds much more fun than medicine, or surgery for that matter.

Surgery or medicine may be necessary for certain types of warts, so it is important to consult a doctor. If your doctor agrees, consider skipping the cutting and chemicals and reach for the duct tape instead.
