How to Use Aromatherapy for Energy

Do you find your energy dwindling towards the end of the day? Why not use the power of aromatherapy to boost your energy levels? It's an all natural approach that really works.

Are you feeling tired and rundown? Not getting enough sleep? In our fast paced society lack of energy and poor sleep habits are at an all time high. Many people compensate by pumping themselves full of caffeine which makes them nervous and further adds to their sleep difficulties. Fortunately, there's a natural way to get a quick energy boost using the amazing power of smell. Surprisingly, using aromatherapy for energy really works and it's an all natural approach to the frustrating problem of daytime fatigue. Here's how to use aromatherapy for energy:

Select energy boosting essential oils

Start by visiting your local health food store or natural food market and explore the exciting array of essential oils available to you. You'll want to concentrate on the ones that are known to have an energy boosting effect. These would include peppermint essential oil and the citrus oils. Two of the best citrus oils for boosting your energy are grapefruit and lime essential oils. If the stores have testers, hold the scent up to your nose and see if the scent doesn't give you a quick lift. Choose a bottle of peppermint essential oil as well as a citrus oil to take home.

Prepare your essential oils

There are a variety of ways to benefit from your energizing essential oils. You can keep a bottle in your desk at work and when you start to feel tired, open the bottle and take a slow whiff. Another option is to prepare a spray mixture of essential oils to mist in your home, office, or the interior of your car. To do this, combine one cup of distilled water with ten drops of essential oil. Add two tablespoons of vodka and pour it into a spray bottle. Keep one in your car, at work, and in your home.

Other ways to use your energizing essential oils

Try adding several drops of an energizing essential oil to your bathwater in place of bubble bath. If you take a shower in the morning, add several drops to your body wash or body lotion. Need a quick energy boost before an evening party? Add several drops to warm water and soak your feet in the fragrant mixture for twenty minutes. Another energy booster that will also make your skin look radiant is to add energizing essential oils in your next steam facial. Place five drops of your energizing essential oil in a pint of warm steaming water. Use a towel to make a tent and hold your face over the pan for ten minutes. Admire your glowing skin in the mirror!

Essential oils should always be diluted before applying to the skin as they're quite concentrated. You only need a small amount to get an energy boosting effect. You'll discover many other ways to use energizing essential oils to combat a lack of energy. It's an all natural approach to ending daytime fatigue and tiredness.
