Tibetan singing bowls are an amazing aid to meditation and relaxation. These bowls are usually made from brass but they have been made in other metals such as silver and bronze. The use of these singing bowls goes back more than 4000 years.
Choose your bowl according to what feels right and sounds right for you. You need to get one that "fits you", just like you would purchase shoes that "fit" your particular shape.
The vibration from your bowl resonates with the vibrations within your body. Modern physics tells us that human beings are a bundle of oscillating vibrating molecules and it is this vibration that responds to the singing of the bowls.
There are several ways to use these bowls. You can beat and rub them with your hands, or take a purpose made stick and rub the rim of the bowl with it. This second method builds up a steady singing noise which can be compared to the sound you get when you rub a wet finger around the rim of a wine glass, only much lower in pitch.
These are relaxing and make an excellent focus for meditation.
