Animals have feelings just like humans and can therefore suffer from a wide range of emotional problems. However, they do not always understand what is happening to them and cannot easily express to us how they feel except by what is thought of as antisocial behavior. A certain amount of natural "wild" behavior is normal, but notice what seems out of balance for the particular animal. The traditional approach to treating an animal is a combination of observation and empathy. Imagine yourself in their position, decide how they might feel about their life and choose essences to match that. Do not hesitate to consult a vet if your pet seems unwell or aggressive.
Animals are good subjects and respond very quickly to flower essence treatment, having fewer defences and greater willingness to change than humans. This approach can rapidly bring their system back into equilibrium and they can become happier and more themselves.
Animals Are Sensitive
Animals are affected by environmental pollution, the wrong diet, noise, city life, an unnatural living environment and loss of connection with nature, just as humans are. If you have a strong bond with an animal, your personal stress levels could adversely affect it, as it is thought that animals can absorb negativity from their owners. If this seems to be the case, treat yourself as well as the animal, including some of the following:
Pink Yarrow: useful for animals that absorb the emotions of those around them. This essence protects and strengthens the aura.
White Yarrow: for protection from environmental pollution such as car fumes and noise. This essence creates a shield of light which gives protection.
Bluebell: for animals whose behavior suggests that they are very stressed and are suffering from low spirits, with loss of a sense of self. This essence can bring peace, tranquility, a reconnection with nature and the higher self.
Chamomile: for tightness and stress in the involuntary nervous system, particularly around the digestive area. This essence can bring relaxation and calm.
Using Flowers for Various Animals
Flower essences are very easy to administer: put 4 drops in the drinking water, adding fresh drops when the water is changed. Additionally, put 4 drops on their food. For large animals, such as horses, put 12 drops in food and water. Alternatively, put the drops on a sugar lump or in a splash of milk.
If the animal is not eating or drinking at all, put the drops on the fur so they can lick them off. If the animal is unconscious or too ill to lick, run the essence around the mouth. If the animal is unapproachable, but 20 drops in a spray bottle with 50ml/2 fluid oz of water and spray around them at least twice daily. This method was used successfully to treat a sick budgerigar who would not drink any water than contained the essences.
A good tip is to spray small animals when it is time to clean out their home so they stay calm, and give the cage or hutch itself a spray before moving them back in. Walnut and Emergency Essence would be a good mix for this. Putting 2 drops in a fish tank will minimize the shock of changing the water.
Helping Plants With Flower Essences
Flower essences are of benefit to all living things, including plants. As they require regular watering it is very little trouble to add some drops to the can and also to spring when misting their leaves. They will become more resistant to pests or drought, and produce profuse growth and flowers. Vegetables may grow more vigorously and perhaps prove more tasty and nourishing.
The approach to treating plants is similar to that for animals or children: imagine how, as conscious beings, they might be feeling about what is happening in their lives.
Should they wilt a little try Wild Rose, or add Olive to give the roots strength to establish themselves quickly.
Cut flowers can benefit from a similar combination: Emergency Essence for the shock of being cut and Walnut for they settle into a new way of living. Again, give Wild Rose if they start to wilt, or Elm if it all appears to have been too much for the plant.
Oak may improve their resistance to infection and help them stay well, in spite of a few pests being around.
Broken stems or branches have been mended using Emergency Essence cream smeared round the break, which is then bound up with tape or a bandage. Water the plant well with essences such as Sweet Chestnut, as it must have been an experience of great pain and anguish to be broken in half. Perhaps other essences would be helpful, so try tuning into the plant and see what ideas come to mind.
