Fun in the Sun

Tone your body for summer fun and be sure to use plenty of sun block.

So you plan on a summer by the pool and you want a toned body. Here are a few exercises to get you there.

  1. To tone your tush

Stand with your back toward a chair, feet shoulder width apart. Sit back until your back grazes the chair (don't actually sit or let your knees go beyond your toes). Return to standing. Do three sets of 15 to 20 reps three times a week.
  2. Tighten your mid-section

Lie face down on the floor, and then push up until you are holding yourself in an almost straight line with only your hands, forearms, and toes touching the ground. Hold for 15 to 20 seconds two or three times: Repeat three times a week. (Too tough? Drop to knees).
  3. Tighten triceps

Place your hands slightly more than chest wide apart on a bench or staircase. Lower your aligned body toward the stairs then push yourself back up. Do three sets of 10 reps three times a week, and move down one step (which will up the difficulty level) each week.

The sun is a powerful skin aging element, so wear at least a broad spectrum SPF of 15, a 35 or more is better. Your lips don't tan like the rest of your skin so don't overlook them. Use a lip balm with sun protection.

Bottled bronzers are a good way to perk up winter skin if you are not in the sun. Nivea Body Sun Kissed Firming Moisturizer works well ($7.00 at drugstores).

Tried the exercises, and they promise to be useful, but couldn't understand the last one. Should it be feet on the floor and not hands? Great idea for summer.

Having a J'Lo butt gives you a nice look in the mirror with your jeans on.
Butt, on the beach? It's like whoa, watch this one as she walks to the water!!! Wholly butt-oh's!!! That's just out there and it's like so curvy!!!
And that's all they look at, your butt!!! So Ruby I might take your advice this time and get working on it while it's still winter here in Sydney, Australia. Thanks for the advice.

I have enough fun in the sun, but sitting beside the pool in the sun is a little different than in the corn field. I do know where you are coming from but for me, I look for a shade...
