As a hairstylist I have come across many different types and conditions of hair in my career. Without fail the question most frequently asked is "how can I keep my hair health and shiny?"
It is true to say we all like to look our best and hair can play an important role in our general appearance. With that thought in mind here are some easy and simple solutions to great condition and tips that won't blow any budget!
Conditioner
We all use a Shampoo so we should use a Conditioner to finish the process. A shampoo is designed to cleanse the hair and scalp, as it does this the tiny cuticles on the hair shaft are raised, what conditioner does is close down these cuticles and seal in the moisture essential to healthy hair. Know your hair
Identify your type of hair and use the appropriate product, this can be easier said that done however as everyone is quite literally unique. Do you have dry end but an oily scalp? Then try a clarifying shampoo and only condition the ends of the hair as no more moisture is required on the scalp. Do you have fine limp hair that requires a boost? Try a volumizing shampoo and a pea sized amount of conditioner before rinsing thoroughly. Or do you have course rebellious hair? You may want to try a smoothing shampoo and separate conditioner or you might find you benefit better from a treatment that nourishes the hair for 5 - 10 minutes before rinsing. Water water and more water!
As the human body consists anywhere from 60% to 85% water depending on body size, and dehydration can cause lots of different effects on out bodies. Lack of water in a diet will leave your hair skin and nail dull and dried out. With the huge benefits water has for us we should try and take our 2 litres a day. Vitamins and Minerals
Taking added vitamins and minerals in our diet can help as long as we don't overuse any one item; a good substitute for health hair skin and nails is Cod Liver Oil. In capsule form it s easy to take with very little taste, and has many other health benefits since it is widely taken to help stiffness associated with arthritis, and it has also been proven to have a positive effect on the bone, heart and the brain as well as nourishing skin, hair, and nails. However always consult a nutritionist or your doctor before taking any supplements. Do Visit The Hair Salon
Whether you go regularly or a little more infrequently it is important to trim your hair when you notice it becoming dry and split at the ends. This kind of damage is caused by everyday wear and tear, be it from styling aids or environmental factors, the only way to prevent further splitting is trimming the hair. Splitting of the hair is quite possibly a danger to hair that goes underestimated, should the hair start to split at the root irrevocable damage might occur and damage to the follicle is something we should avoid.
Finding a good stylist can be hard but I always find that a successful visit to the salon involves good communication, don't be afraid to tell your stylist exactly what you want and do not want. Do not be afraid to let them know whether you agree with their suggestions or not, communication is the key and for us stylists there is nothing better than a client who is willing to talk and is happy with our work!
