My eyebrows were getting a little unruly and a little out of shape. I was passing by an Indian salon in the afternoon and there was a sign which said eyebrow threading for $5. So cheap, I thought and decided to try.
Eyebrow threading is an ancient Indian art of hair removal that uses cotton thread, which is twisted and pulled along the surface of the skin of unwanted hair. Here's what I like about eyebrow threading.
Fast
The Indian lady who attended to me was a real expert. She had my eyebrows threaded in less than 5 minutes. That is much faster than eyebrow waxing or even tweezing.
Cheap
One of the reasons why eyebrow threading is so cheap is because there is no expensive equipment needed to perform eyebrow threading. The Indian lady just did it with cotton thread, twisting a double stranded thread around the unwanted hair and pulling them out. But it requires a lot of skill, nevertheless.
Less Painful
This is definitely a less painful way compared to eyebrow tweezing or waxing. People experience different thresholds of pain afterall. As for me, it is less painful and the pain lasts only a short while, compare to the other methods.
Accurate
Women want to get the eyebrow shape that they want. Eyebrow waxing can be a rather tricky and difficult method to achieving the desired eyebrow shape. Eyebrow tweezing also takes a long time for accuracy to be achieved. Nothing is more precise than eyebrow threading.
All Natural
There are no chemicals used in the process of eyebrow threading, as compared to eyebrow waxing. Many women with sensitive skin experience allergic reactions from eyebrow waxing. Since only cotton threads are used to remove unwanted eyebrow hair, there is really very little contact with the skin which may cause any allergies or rashes, and the top layer of the skin is not removed.
Lasts Longer
Regrowth of hair occurs only after 2 to 4 weeks. Your eyebrow is in perfect shape much longer than the other more common methods.
Suitable for All Skin Types
The best thing about eyebrow threading would be that it is suitable for all skin types. It is also suitable for skin which is often sensitive to laser hair removal or eyebrow waxing.
Based on my experience, I only had a little reddening of the skin around my eyebrows. It lasts for an hour or so. Even though eyebrow threading may be most popular in the Indian and Middle Eastern cultures, it has gained popularity in the West as well, especially among famous celebrities. Even Brad Pitt, Heather Graham, Liz Hurley and Salma Hayek does regular eyebrow threading!
