You see it all the time, the new long lasting, kiss proof, food and drink proof, stays on forever lipsticks that are advertised on the television and usually cost a fortune. The advertising usually consists of a sexy young film or TV star which makes you think that you can have gorgeous kissable lips with a lipstick that stays on no matter what. Is this true I hear you say? I have tried many of these lipsticks, and usually the answer is no, unless you apply it correctly.
If you use the following steps, then you don't need to spend a fortune on the latest long lasting brand, as a 99p lipstick will stay just as well. My lipsticks usually cost around £2 and stay on all day. I get loads of comments about how I manage to keep my lips looking great without having to re apply my lipstick, especially on nights out.
- Rub foundation over your lips with your finger
- Blot with tissue paper
- Apply lip liner around the outline of your lips ( if you are using it )
- Apply lipstick
- Blot with tissue paper
- Using a compact, powder over your lips with quite a bit of powder (this sets the lipstick.)
- Re apply lipstick over the top of the powder
- Blot with tissue paper
- For the ultimate seal, use a lip stick sealer such as lipcote, brush all over lips including over the outlines.
- Keep mouth open while it is drying and allow at least 10 minutes before eating and drinking.
Follow these tips and you will see the difference, compared with the normal one coat of lipstick. So it may take a little longer to apply your lipstick, but if it stays on longer, then it is worth the time and effort.
