According to dermatologists, your face cleansing routine varies according to your skin type – is it oily, dry, or normal? You’ve got to use cleansing products fit for your type of skin. All good skincare regimen must have three basic steps: cleanse, moisturize or tone, and protect.
- Basic skin care starts with washing the face with lots of water, using the appropriate cleanser, then moisturizing (when skin is dry) or toning (when skin is oily), and lastly protecting it with an appropriate sunblock.
- When washing, use water at room temperature or tap water. Water that is too hot or too cold dries the skin. Cold water will only temporarily shrink pores but will return to normal once you perspire.
- Gently, use a circular motion when soaping the face and then thoroughly rinse off soap.
- When drying your face, pat dry gently – do not rub. For dry skin, put your moisturizer while face is still damp. This will help retain the much-needed facial moisture.
