Women view their face as an important part of their self image. They spend hundred's of dollars on products to make their skin look younger, feel softer and more beautiful. Yet sometimes they neglect one simple thing, their facial hair.
It's quite common for women to have an increased growth of hair on the face just before and after menopause. It is primarily because of decreased estrogens. As women get older, the hair grows darker and coarser. Sometimes, it's because of genetics and passed down through generations.
Here are some ways that facial hair can be removed.
- Tweezers: Some women remove unwanted hairs with tweezers. The hair is plucked out at the root and it can be painful. Tweezing is a good way to remove unwanted hair, if you just have a few stray hairs.
- Depilatory creams: These creams can be used to remove facial hair effectively. The cream is applied to the hair and left for a few minutes. When the hair is dissolved, you can wipe it away. Individuals with sensitive skin should use with caution, since chemicals in the cream can cause irritation of the skin. Always follow directions on the packaging.
- Waxing: The easiest way to take care of unwanted facial hair is by waxing. This can be done every 4 to 6 weeks. You apply hot or cold wax to the area of the unwanted facial hairs. The hair sticks to the wax, so when you pull the wax off, the hairs come with it. Some women are sensitive to this procedure.
- Electrolysis: To rid facial hair permanently, you can try electrolysis. An electrical current destroys the hair root. Since each hair follicle has to be done individually, it can take several treatments to complete.
- Laser: Another form of hair removal is by laser. This must be done by a licensed professional who is trained to do this procedure. It's the best method for premanent hair removal, but it's expensive and time consuming.
Women don't have to live with unsightly facial hair. Since every individual is different, it's important to find the hair removal method, that works best.
