Protect Your Skin Everyday, Even If There is No Sun

Using sunscreen and a daily moisturizer to protect your skin against cancer.

Cancer

Everyday you hear about someone who has cancer, or recovering from cancer. Most of the time these people are close to us. This makes it more personal and hits the heart hard. Skin Cancer is one of the many types of cancer out there. If you think about it our skin is exposed many hours a day, every single day, even in our home if you are sitting by an open window with sunlight shinning through. If you do not protect your skin then you are increasing your chances of developing skin cancer.

Wear Sunscreen

I always hear to wear sunscreen and I have ignored it because I wanted to have my golden tan. I thought that sunscreen would put me in a protected bubble and keep the tan away, so I never wore it. I have had my skin unprotected for years while I bathed unprotected in the sun. I have burned and tanned, which added years of damage to my skin. Today, I listen to this important and valuable information. I still want to be tan, but have noticed that my skin still tans while wearing sunscreen and I can feel more confident that I am protecting my skin. You can still burn with sunscreen on, so take precaution.

There are so many types of sunscreen out there, everything from creams to sprays. Sunscreen has many different kinds of protection as well. That is the number with the SPF. You should pick a higher SPF/SPF 15 is good if you are just running everyday errands and are not going to be in the sun for prolonged periods of time. Choose a higher SPF if you are going to be out in the sun. I have learned that the best type of protection is a sunscreen that protects against both UVA and UVB rays. Getting a sunscreen with both UVA/UVB will give you protection against rays that cause a burn and aging. You may have to go through a bit of trial and error in order to find the best brand and coverage for you. Once you do stick with it, your skin will thank you.

Try A Daily Lotion with an SPF and UVA/UVB Protection

I have noticed that many companies now offer an everyday lotion offering SPF and protection from the damaging UVA/UVB rays. This is very convenient. I have talked with many of my friends and family and for the most part the one thing that they do not forget is there moisturizer. I know that I am the same way, applying a moisturizer both day and night is a major part of my beauty regimen. You can purchase this lotion anywhere from department stores to your local grocery market. You do not have to pay a lot of money for this protection, finding a great one could cost you a mere $10.

I used to pay more than that on my lotion, but now during the day I suit up using a moisturizing lotion with SPF and UVA/UVB protection. I found my brand at a local Walmart and paid only $7.99 for it. If you are not sure which brand is great for you talk to your dermatologist, he/she can suggest a brand that fits your budget. Whatever brand you decide on, use it every morning. I am hoping to decrease my skin cancer chances and want to help others protect there skin and do the same.

This is so true. I am a tanner, and do not protect my skin from the damaging rays. I have watched a friend go through skin cancer and do not want to experience it myself. Thank you for the info on the lotion with SPF, I will be using it.
