So, what's the secret to perfect foundation?
When it comes to looking glam like the celebrities and models you'll have to learn how to apply makeup naturally and accurately. However, I have to warn you, you'll never look as flawless as the models in the magazines...to achieve that golden glowing skin without using some heavy industrial oil and liquid bronzer would be nearly impossible. These looks are created for videos and photo shoots; for real life it has to be much more practical and easy to achieve. I'm definitely not going to get your hopes up, because if you applied your make up in this way you'd end up ruining sofas and chairs at every party!
When going out shopping to find that perfect foundation, its best to go out with no makeup and your face cleansed. Most people never buy a pair of shoes unless they've tried them on...Well the same principal should be applied when it comes to trying out new foundation. Always test your foundation to see if it matches your skin colour. Try and test it on your cheek because it's the largest area people see when they look at your face. Never test it on the back or inside of your hand or arm, it's pointless. If the foundation you've chosen looks as if it's disappeared into your skin it's the right one for you.
Your fingers are the perfect tools for building the perfect face. When it comes to applying your foundation, you'll need to learn how to use your fingers properly. For the best results always cleanse your face. To avoid sunspots I recommend moisturizing your face with sunscreen or serum. If you want your makeup to last all day, I recommend using primer. All of this should be done using your fingers, picking up the product and then dabbing it on your pores. However, if you tend to use heavy foundation, apply it with a sponge, but never use a brush or sheer liquid foundation. A brush is only ever good for applying powder or concealer.
One foundation should usually do for all seasons. However if you fancy making your skin lighter in the winter and darker in the summer, you can add either a tinted moisturizer or a bronzing gel.
If you've imperfections like dark shadows, broken veins, acne or any other imperfections, use concealer after your foundation. Otherwise it will just come off as you're applying your foundation over it.
