Everyone knows about the dangers of exposure to asbestos. What many people do not know is that the form of cancer which is almost exclusively caused by this is called Mesothelioma, and has been the cause of much suffering and even deadly results by people who have worked with asbestos (oftentimes without their knowledge of exposure).
In 1929, the first lawsuits against asbestos manufacturers arose and in a settled agreement the attorneys agreed not to enter into any further cases against these companies.
It is a shame that miners and other people working with asbestos gave up their health and lives for paychecks which simply can not equal the value of a normal life with family. No one would ever willingly and knowingly examine the pros and cons of these jobs, and so not much can be done for those affected.
One of the main problems in diagnosing the symptoms is that they may only be appear for 20 to 50 years after being exposed. As of date, no agreed screening protocol for specifically diagnosing Mesothelioma has been established.
