Genital Herpes

Treating and preventing the effects of Genital Herpes.

People with genital herpes infections usually seek doctors for immediate treatment.

Genital Herpes treatment consists of three types of drugs: Val acyclovir, acyclovir, and famciclovir. All these three drugs help to speed up the healing process of sores and can restrain an outbreak.

However, these three types of drugs mentioned above cannot prevent transmission of herpes nor can cure the herpes.

For pregnant women with genital herpes problems, treatment may vary depending on how severe the case is. Pregnant women with primary infection may take oral acyclovir (Zovirax) for treatment of sores.

At present, there is no cure to treat herpes. These drugs only cure the sores and not the disease.

The object of genital herpes treatment is to provide patients comfort and relief from the discomfort and pain they are experiencing due to an outbreak of sores.

Although there is no cure for genital herpes, your doctor might prescribe you with antiviral drugs. Most of the patients with primary genital herpes are advice to take antiviral drugs to prevent and ease an outbreak of sores.

Antiviral drugs can also shorten the time it takes for the healing process of herpes sores.

In addition, antiviral drugs can lessen the days of transmission of virus in people around you.

However taking antiviral drugs as genital herpes treatment for primary genital herpes does not stop the outbreaks from reoccurring.

Patients with genital herpes are also advised by their doctors to take antibiotics to lower the possibility of infections in the open blisters on the genital area.

There are also nonprescription medicines and over the counter pain relievers for genital herpes treatment, such as aspirin, ibuprofen and acetaminophen that are helpful to reduce the pain and fever.

Not all genital herpes treatment requires medication, there are simple things you can do at home to ease the outbreak. Patient with genital herpes may treat themselves at home by simply wearing cotton underwear and taking a warm bath, to easily dry and heal outbreaks.

Some doctors nowadays use herbs in treating genital herpes. These herbal medicines if used internally may strengthen one's body immune system. In addition, if you used it externally it may help to heal the wound and ease the pain.

Some herbs have an allergenic reaction; consult your doctor first before trying this kind of treatment.

Although there is no cure yet for herpes, scientists, and researchers are working their ass for various testing of drugs that can enhance immune system to prevent outbreaks.

In addition, a herpes vaccine has been at work for years now. Immunization of herpes vaccine may drastically reduced people with herpes infections.
