In 2002, at MPLS Va Medical Center, I had unnecessary laser surgery for precancerous cells. I allowed this surgery because I didn't know any better at the time. Now I have done some research and know that Kamilini Das, MD put me through a cancer scare for no good reason.
These precancerous cells were supposedly identified by a pap smear. I say supposedly because I had a partial hysterectomy in 1979 and haven't had a cervix since then. I mentioned that to Dr Das at that time. She said the cells were in my vagina. Unfortunately, pap smears cannot detect cancer or pre-cancer outside the cervix. I didn't know that at the time.
Also, pap smears cannot provide any useful information during or after menopause, and I was five years post menopausal at that time. Furthermore, I'd been celibate for 8 years at the time of that needless surgery and the even more needless trauma that surrounded it. As I said, I would not have allowed this surgery had I known all of what I now know to be true.
One would think that one needless cancer scare would have been enough, but Donald Weinshencker, MD, and internist in the Woman's Comprehensive Care Center at MPLS VA, tried to tell me I had another VAIN II pap smear in 2005. By that time, I had done the research and simply got a pap smear outside MPLS VA. So that indicates that this VA has at least two sadistic doctors.
