Diet for the older person is as important for those who are growing. Lately tests have been done on various nutritional supplements that have been around for centuries and they are still proven to be good. But since scientific experimentation is more recent results regarding their efficacy should be heeded. The studies I have look at regard the prevention of prostate cancer. Here are some examples.
- Flax seed has always been shown to a good means of controlling cancers especially those of the breast however recent studies show conflicting reports on its eficac. In a 1993 Uruguayan study the presence of lignins in the shell of the seed has been linked to promoting the occurrence of prostate cancer. This report conflicts with more recent Dutch analysis equating flax seeds as being safe a deterrent to cancer.
- Brewers yeast has also been shown to have beneficial effects when taken as a food supplement in cases where the risk of prostate cancer has been measured. When two tablespoons are taken after a meal the yeast provides three necessary amino acids which act as a deterrent.
