For many, childhood obesity has become a pandemic over the last several years. Kids are heavier and health officials are begging for parents to start taking part in changing children's habits before it's too late.
Based on personal experience, parents really need to start thinking about what goes into their diets. Children can be as young as 10 yrs. old and be diagnosed with gallbladder disease and pancrentitus. My child is big into all the GOOD food. He likes everything from pizza, chips, cookies and even the candy, although he would eat the healthy foods like salads and fruits too. I am a divorced mother of two and will be the first to admit that I was a huge part of the problem.
High fat foods and bad diets led to my son being flown out of town to the nearest children's intensive care unit. His kidneys and liver started to shut down, and no doctor could figure out why. After five long days of testing, he was diagnosed with Gallbladder Disease and Pancrentitus. He was put on a very low fat diet and medication for a month in order to reduce the swelling.
After a month, he was under the knife having a non-functioning gallbladder removed, but due to the lack in appropriate diet he will constantly have the pancrentitus to worry about.
Now take a step back and look what your children are eating. No one is perfect, and I have never claimed to know anything about raising children. I just know if I could go back and change that experience for him I would do it in a heartbeat. Sitting in a hospital with a child and telling him he can't eat or drink for five days, no one should have to do that to a child.
