Osteoporosis is a problem where the calcium in a person's bones begins to decrease. This causes bones to break very easily. As new technology and techniques emerge, there are more effective ways to find osteoporosis, before you had to break a bone before it was detected.
When a person goes in for a test, they shot special x-rays into that person's bones. If the bones are dense, great, they don't have osteoporosis, but if they aren't dense then they have a problem. White and South East Asian women over 60 are the most likely to get this disease.
All women should receive a test around the age of 65. When going in for a test, don't panic, the procedure is fast and painless that takes almost no preparation at all. There are pros and few cons about this test. This test will most likely accurately find out whether or not a person has Osteoporosis. The only con is that many insurance agencies don't cover this type of test, unless the person is at a high risk of receiving osteoporosis.
All in all, older women wanting to stay healthy for longer should receive an osteoporosis test.
