In 2004 my only sister died of sarcoma cancer, which is considered one of the rarest form of cancer because there has been very little research done on this subject according to her physician.
I am writing this because I don’t believe she had to die! Although she was a fighter who never complained; having had a total of nine surgical procedures including a right leg amputation.
Because this cancer runs quite rampantly throughout one’s body; by the time it is discovered; it is too late. According to my research and the doctors’ experience; no one has lived past seven years - with most people expiring within six months to five years. She lasted about five years!
Sarcoma cancer attacks one extremities, and by the time you are diagnosed; the arms and legs have to be amputated. Although the majority of people who are diagnosed with sarcoma cancer are the middle-aged, young children are now suffering from this fatal disease for some reason.
I want to emphasize that my sister never asked: “Why me?” She said when she learned that children were also suffering (losing their hair from chemotherapy and radiation, with their mouths being burned from this medicine as well), she realized that this disease had “no respect of person.” In other words, it would attack and devour the poor, the rich, the educated the illiterate, etc.
I write this to ask you to write your local congress people to request that they put emphasis on this topic. I, too, have written them to request that a senate hearing be conducted on sarcoma cancer. I would like to tell her story as well as to bring more attention to this subject because most people are not aware.
I appreciate your assistance in this matter. Together we can make a difference so that this deadly disease does not attack you, a family member, or a friend. My sister suffered for over three years before God said: “That’s enough and gave her peace!”
Before she passed, she wrote her memoirs entitled: “Why Me - Why Not: My Experience with Sarcoma Cancer“ which sells on
