Should Genetics be Blamed for the Obesity Epidemic?

Though it is a proven fact that genes have an important role in obesity, I don't think we should blame genetics solely for obesity.

When we feel happy if we get good looks or strength through genes, then why should we feel unhappy about the fact that we got obesity genetically. Genetics is a very tricky thing as it carries both the good and bad things from our ancestors.

Genetics is not the sole reason for obesity. Those obese people we see every day on streets don't definitely have got those bodies through genes. Though a couple or three people you see in a crowd might have been victims of genetics but not most of the people get it from their irregular food habits. Not doing enough exercise is also a reason for obesity.

Good and bad is a part and parcel of anything. Same is the case with genetics too. We have a chance to get all the characters our ancestors possessed. If someone says that your nose looks good, you would be very happy to say that your grand pa had a similar nose but in the case of obese body or diabetes you will be very sorry to say that you got them through genes. If you are happy to accept the good things through genes, you should be a sport to accept the side effects of genetics too. But obesity is not an incurable condition. With good eating habits and exercises, you can go away from obesity.

Though you will be prone to get obese easily if you eat much or sit idle, you can control that. You don't need to feel jealous of people with slim figures and you don't need to take it for granted that you are destined to be obese and you can never be slim like the woman next door. You should remember the fact that mos of these slim people you see get that body through vigorous exercises and through maintaining healthy food habits. Then why can't you do the same and lose oodles of weight?

Obese people have just a disadvantage that they put weight easily than normal people if they have irregular food habits. But by taking proper health care, and by following a good fitness program obese people may lose weight and at the same time with irregular food habits, normal people can put much weight on.

You shouldn't completely blame genetics for the obese bodies. By taking care of your food habits and by following strict exercise routine you can lose much weight and you can be slim like any other person. But you should maintain the habits continuously even after you lose weight.
