Major Symptoms of IBS
Constipation is a major symptom of Irritable Bowel Syndrome which includes also, diarrhea, acidity, excessive winds, and hemorrhoids. Constipation is a constant affliction, resulting in a very distressed life. Everyday is a challenge to regularly remove and cleanse the bowels which oftentimes, is a frustration that can cause a great emotional and physical stress.
Studies reveal that constipation can even be experienced at an early age. Most of the victims are the male children but reversed in adulthood where women are more likely to suffer than men. It increases as the person gets older, frequent and more serious.
Normal Bowel Movement
According to Albert M. G. Garcia, an international marketing consultant, a preventive health practitioner with almost 30 years practical experience in Oriental and Asian herbal and traditional medicine, "Normal bowel movement lies somewhere between three times a day and three times a week. For most people, once a day is considered regular while for others, shit happens only after seven days. As the stool moves through the bowel, it normally becomes drier. This drying process is a delicate balance. the stool should be well formed enough to be squeezed out but moist enough to pass along painlessly. The longer it takes for the stool to move through the system, the drier and harder it becomes, eventually turning to hard-to-pass pellets. This leads to constipation, with it mood swings when the proverbial shit hits, the fan syndrome begins to rear its ugly head.

When constipation becomes severe, daily intake of fiber rich food or source provides a natural and lasting solution. The suggestions of experts is to take fiber rich food, such as whole grain breads, cereals with high fibers, brown rice, and all kind of fruits and vegetables and those foods that delivers the optimum digestive health benefits and must have evidence of fiber content. Psyllium husk otherwise known as the mother of all herbs, can be considered the best food fiber in the world.
Regular fiber intake is encouraged for it would eliminate constipation, which is a major cause of IBS. It cleanses the colon and intestine from impacted wastes and toxins which is also, a natural fat absorber. Fiber lowers bad cholesterol known as LDL and helps ease acidity which also controls diarrhea.
By eating regular, balanced meals with sufficient intake of fruits and vegetables daily, drinking eight glasses of water each day after meals and not during meals, physical exercise daily, and chewing food slowly and longer, will surely benefit your whole body making it perfectly trimmed and healthy.
I was a bus driver for many years and just about coped with it. From 1989 until 2003 I drove Underground trains in London.
Following an illness in 1993 my symptoms got progressively worse leading to medical retirement in 2003. One cannot drive a rapid transit metro train and keep stopping for a toilet stop.
I have had all manner of tests and been given much advice. To summarise, IBS it what you have when all the usual tests come back NEGATIVE. It is a syndrome, meaning it is caused by a number of factors. These vary from patient to patient so there is no specific cure. helpful tips include plenty of refreshing sleep, exercise, healthy diet, no shiftwork, eat regularly, Keep stressfree haha, drink plenty of water.
Many diets advise a fibre rich diet. That is true of CONSTIPATION type IBS but for me it makes my condition worse.
Even now, today, I am recovering from a two week attack that gave me a sharp stabbing pain in my right side. I knew it was trapped wind and as fast as I got rid of it, more would be generated. No medicine is entirely effective. Only today is it easing. I have no idea what started it.
So, like most sufferers, I just live with it. It disturbs my sleep, and has lost me my job. I am one of the lucky ones. There are sufferers whose lives are controlled by IBS.
