From what I have seen, Autism is not a bad piece of our development. This, as we say, “disability” should not be called a disability because being “autistic” is really one's official trait. This means that one who has this form of developmental disability really can be interpreted as one who is talented in other ways, who is exceptionally nice and willing to give. People with autism are just different and not in a bad way.
Personally, I was diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome in the autism spectrum at age 16. At first I thought it was horrid, that this meant I was a failure. This was all a false prospect for my future. Asperger's is not really a disorder at all, in my opinion, as people might think. It is actually a different way in which one thinks, or a description of how people go about their lives. So, when you walk up to someone and say, “I have Asperger's,” think of it as something to be proud of and not be ashamed of who you are or who you will become because this is actually what characteristics you are made of at this moment in time. So be proud of who you are! That is all that counts.
This portion that I just told you about is a lot to digest in one sitting. Many believe that autism is a burden or will be a burden in one's life. It is okay to think that now as you aren't fully ready to express your thoughts and feelings, but if you will, I will tell you that there is actually an Autism and Asperger's culture that exclaims, “We love who we are, and how we are!” Kids, adolescents, and even adults don't realize this factor. There is a whole philosophy on disabilities that informs people that disability really just means different.
Getting back to the life of an Asperger's child, in my own perspective having what we call social differences just means you have to work harder. That harder place means that if you proceed in taking that step to talk to someone it will make your personality, inner core, mind, and body stronger. It just takes that extra effort. You don't have to be perfect. This social matter just adds a little of a lot of flavor to your life.
