Treatment for Insomnia

Insomnia is a sleep disorder and here are some treatment steps.

Insomnia is a sleep disorder and it is characterized by inadequate sleep quality and quantity. Insomnia symptoms are finding difficult to fall asleep, waking up too early in the morning, sleepiness during the day, irritability and problems with concentration or memory.

Insomnia is caused by two effects, one is acute problem, it means short term problem, it lasts less than 1 month and second one is chronic, it lasting one month or longer.

Insomnia can be treated by many medication ways. But here are some basic treatment steps to follow everyone -

Sonata

It is a sleeping pill, it can try to fall asleep on your own. It stays active in the body for the shortest amount of time. Then, you want to take it without feeling drowsy in the morning. However, if you tend to wake during the night, this might not be the best choice for you.

Lunesta

It helps you fall asleep quickly, but don't take it unless you are able to get a nights sleep as it could grogginess.

Ambien

It helps you get to sleep within 15 to 30 minutes, it works well but some people tended to wake up in the middle of the night. Ambient CR is an extended release version. You should not take Ambien or Ambien CR unless you are able to get a full night's sleep - at least 7 to 8 hours.

Antidepressants

This is a common symptom of depression. Depression is caused some antidepressant drugs such as trazodone (Desyrel), are particularly effective in treating sleeplessness and anxiety.

Benzodiazepines

These sleeping pills can be used to treat sleep problems such as sleepwalking and night terrors. These older sleeping pills (Halcion, Restoril, and others) are useful when you want an insomnia medication that stays in your system longer.
