From our menacing jobs to what we want to eat for dinner; in America; the talk or worry about HIV and AIDS is so far from our minds it’s ridiculous. We try to ignore the fact that this epedimic is killing us as a whole.
It’s not that we are afraid because you can’t really be afraid of something that you keep yourself from thinking about. But you can hender your thoughts, your clarity and saneness by trying to avoid something that will not go away unless action is taken. We would rather run to the mall to grab a shoe that is on sale instead of making a move to the clinic to get tested.
So what is it. What do I think about this epedimic? I have so many mixed emotions about AIDS. I know and believe that it’s one of the number one killing disease that we have to deal with as a human race. But we ignore it and hope that it will one day just go away. We let others deal with it because we feel it isn’t a part of our lives.
Whether you know it or not, HIV/AIDS is a part of our lives. If sex is apart of your agenda then this deadly disease plays a huge part. But ignorance plays another huge part in this epedimic and in our community. We choose not to learn because we fear what we may hear, which causes this problem to grow and grow. IT has become a reality that the human race may suffer from this disease to the point where we will no longer exist.
There are 14,000 new infections every day (95 percent in developing countries). HIV/AIDS is a "disease of young people" with half of the 5 million new infections each year occurring among people ages 15 to 24.
Who wants to believe statistics and from where I stand I believe that statistics are embellished. Negativity brings helplessness and hopelessness, which causes people not to respond the way that they should.
So what do we do about this, do we ignore whats happening around us or do we take a stand and begin helping the situation by starting with ourselves. To make a difference we have to understand whats going on. We have to want to get rid of the ignorance. It’s more harmful than we think it is.
Are you walking with AIDS and not knowing it? Are you scared to get the answer. If you are then that should be the main reason why you should get tested. Don’t be part of the Statistics and if you are part of them, help to make a difference.
