Car ramps are good for something besides driving your car upon to change the oil, they are also great for helping you get in and out of bed.
My landlady sleeps on a water bed that that is quite a bit higher than a regular bed, which wouldn't pose a problem except she has a serious hip joint disorder; she's unable to lift her legs more than 2 or 3 inches. She can't get into bed without suffering a lot of pain; she's had to roll herself onto the bed, not that easy when it was that high.
She has a pair of car ramps. By placing one beside her bed she can ease herself along to the top of it she's able to get into bed without suffering much pain. Just be careful not to step off the end. My landlady tells me that using this ramp has saved her day, but I would suggest it should be used at your own discretion, although being heavy it's safer than a wobbly footstool that can tip over.
As they say, necessity is the mother of invention.
