Dealing with Attention Deficit Disorder

Attention Deficit is a neurological disorder and comes with many issues that need to be resolved.

Attention Deficit disorder has been around longer than we think. It has now surfaced to the top in school systems as it is recognized as a neurological disorder. No longer is a child considered bad in the school system. Understanding the child takes on an entire new meaning these days. Children are evaluated and programmed into classrooms which encompass special education and instructors who understand the disorder. An individual educational plan is started; as soon as the diagnosis is available to the school in which the child is enrolled. The quicker the diagnoses the better the situation is for the child in regard to learning.

Learning can be s a struggle for a child especially when too many thoughts are going through his or her mind. This is part of the disorder. A child receives too many messages at one time and cannot sequence them properly. This can cause behavioral issues and reactions from within the classroom. These reactions of course will be negative and will affect the child's attitude concerning school itself.

Children need to feel loved and accepted as adults do also in the society in which we live. To feel accepted is to understand exactly what is going on in the environment. Medications such as Ritalin and Adder assist the child neurologically causing a better focusing component; in regards to what is going on around them. They can focus and actually learn what the teacher is teaching them in class.

The "class clown: is an example of a typical ADD child who has been undiagnosed and has been considered to be a bad child. Until the child is diagnosed and treated; there is little hope for a positive ending. Children end up in juvenile hall in later years as they struggle with the disorder which has caused so much negativity in their lives. This could be prevented with proper education of parents and treatment of the child suffering from attention deficit disorder. Once again the child has an outcome which will better their life and place them on solid ground in the community.

Education is available in schools and from the pediatrician of the child. Parents can obtain information on web site concerning attention deficit disorder and bring their concerns to the school that their child is attending. Once this happens the child can actually learn educated material and become productive in his or her role as a child interacting and sharing in the wonders of their environment.
