Bag Lady
Look stylish while hauling your groceries with a tote bag. Put those cute bags to good use or buy one from your local grocer. Forget paper or plastic, we’ll take cloth! –check out Trader Joe's or Whole foods (even Meijer has a bright blue bag)
Damage Control
Contrary to popular belief there is no need to wash your hair everyday (unless you are very oily). Skip the wash and save not only water and shampoo but blow drying. Often times our locks are as frazzled out as we are. Give them a day off and just slip hair into a ponytail or simple updo—which are better with dirtier hair anyway. When I worked in a salon I would actually have my brides, prom girls come in with day old hair.
Fair Trade
I love fashion magazines as much as the next girl, but there is no need to subscribe to the same ones as all your friends. You can each pick a few and swap to save on paper—do the same with catalogs.
Do-over
Buy re-usable compacts. One of my compacts has seen me through wide-leg pants to skinny jeans and back to wide-legs again. Just think of all the plastic and little mirrors I have saved from the wastebasket! Aveda and Mary Kay users have been hip to this trend for years. Bonus: you can custom create your color palette, great for traveling even if it is just to the office.
Special Delivery
Shop on-line. For those of us who haven’t jumped on this bullet train yet here is yet another reason to buy a ticket. You can shop without make-up and avoid the dreaded dressing room lighting all while keeping your gas gage closer to the full mark and the air a little cleaner.
