Need:
- Paste Shoe Polish
- Shoe Polish Brush
- Soft cotton cloth
- Shoes to shine
- Lighter
- Scrubbing Bubbles Cleaner
Many dress shoes get scuffed and have an overall dull finish, even after polishing. These tips will help you get the best shine out of your polish with the least amount of scrubbing and work.
Spray the Scrubbing Bubbles cleaner onto the entire shoe and let sit for 3 minutes. Wipe off dirt and cleaner with a soft cotton cloth. Dip the tips of the polish brush into the polish and rub in small circles across the entire upper of the shoe. Apply a very liberal amount over areas that are scuffed or any damaged surface.
Place your hand inside the shoe and hold upside down. Using the lighter, heat the polish on the entire shoe until it begins to shine. Do not overheat it, or you will melt it to the shoe and damage the upper.
Flip the cloth over that was used for cleaning, so that the dirty side is now inside of the cloth. Place a fingertip inside the cloth and begin to rub only over the areas that had damage before polishing. Use a gentle circular motion to rub the excess polish from these areas.
Put the shoe between your knees to hold it steady while polishing. Take the cloth in both hands and begin to pull roughly over the toe of the shoe, from side to side. This buffs the polish to a high shine.
Flip the shoe around so the heel is now facing forward in your knees and buff the outer edge with the cloth. You have now polished your shoes in less than 5 minutes to a high military shine.
Tips:
Do not heat the polish prior to placing it on the shoe, as this breaks down the components that bond to the shoe. Always be careful when using a lighter around any substance. Do not use this heating method with any liquid polish, as most have alcohol as an ingredient, and in turn will catch fire.
now i should stop using tooth paste on my shoes.
