Creating an Ipod Playlist for Your Workout

How to get your iPod playlist to help you reach your workout goals.

An iPod is a wonderful invention to have when you are working out. Many people need the right motivation in order to get through their daily workouts, so music tends to be the driving force for much of this. You can also try to use television, but this becomes more of a distraction than motivation, so let's stick with music.

What Songs Should Be Included?

For intense workouts, you will want to have a lot of upbeat, fast paced music. This will help you to find your specific rhythm for lifting weights, running or doing crunches. Many people prefer to use hard rock, alternative, and techno music. Even if this is not your favorite kind of music, you will find that it still works well for your workout.

Also, if you if have specific songs that give a lot of inspiration, these should be included as well. If they are slower, then you will want to position them at the beginning or the end of your workout.

Have an Audio Map

When you are making a playlist to work out with, you should treat it just like the workout you are planning to do. Add slow songs at the beginning and the end of the playlist, with the intensity in the songs tempos building as the playlist goes along. Generally, you should time your playlist out to about 45 minutes, which includes your warm up and cool down periods for a thirty minute workout. You can adjust your times for longer workouts.

Vary Your Songs

Just like doing the same workout over and over again, you will want to vary the songs that are on your playlist. If you don't have enough songs to have different playlists, you can switch songs around in the order that you play them to make things a little different.

Music can aid you in your workouts, help you reach your fitness goals, and keep you on track for all of your workouts. This can help you to lose weight, get fit, and have the body that you want.
