Getting in Shape

Seven steps to get in the best shape of your life.

The Mind Set

  1. Set Your Goal

Visualize what you want your body to look like. Picture yourself in the shape that you believe you should be in.
  2. You Gotta Believe

Once you have set your goal believe in it!
  3. Make Up Your Mind

Make your mind up that getting in shape is something that you are going to accomplish. No matter what gets in your way, you are going to get into the shape you want to be in! No doubts! No Worries! No Procrastinating!

Do Not Continue On To Step 4 Until You Have Fully Completed Steps 1-3!

  4. Taking on The Task

Don't over think this, just get started. Get started right away! Don't say "Tomorrow, I'm going to start eating right and working out." Start now! Start right away whether it morning, evening, or midday. If its time for breakfast, skip the bacon and hash browns. Lunch or dinner, have a salad. Snack time, go with some fruit or yogurt. Now for the workout, start small go for a quick walk/jog, if you can't get out of the house do some crunches or push ups before bed. Heck! If it's been a while since you've worked out do some stretches on the floor while your watching TV. In short, do what ever you can ASAP!

  5. Keep It Up

Now that you're started keep on it! Don't let yourself slip up! The best way to do this is to get into a routine. Your routine should consist of two things, your nutrition and a workout plan. Do your research and get yourself a good workout plan. Find a workout plan that is realistic for you, don't pick one that is too much of a workload for your schedule or body. This is determined by how much you are used to working out. Your workout plan is only the first part of your routine. Nutrition and working out are equally important when getting in shape. Mix up a good habit of working out with a healthy diet and your set for success.
  6. Stay On The Path

Now that you are on the path to get into the best shape of your life don't veer off. Keep up the good work, but don't get too anxious to see results. The worst thing that you can do when first getting on track is to worry about how you look too often or too soon. When it comes to results, stay away from the scale. Unless you are a wrestler or a Jockey, there is no reason to pay attention to a number on a scale while getting in shape. Keeping track of every pound you gain or lose can become very overwhelming and sometimes discouraging when trying to get in shape. Stick with the mirror! The mirror tells the truth about what kind of shape you are in. If you are looking good in the mirror then you are doing the right things and that is what matters. Be patient and keep plugging along.
  7. Eye On The Prize

Keep track of your progress. Whether you write down your progress in a journal, take a picture, or simply take a mental note keeping track of your progress is very important. The reason for this is to make sure you are not going backwards instead of forward. Seeing your results as you go a long is inspiring and rewarding to you. Although, as I said in step #6 don't do not worry excessively over this. When recording how much more weight you can lift or how much longer you can run without getting tired; this should be recorded weekly. However if you are taking a picture of your self, take a picture the day you start working out, then put that picture away and don't look at it again until you have worked out for a solid month with no brakes. If you are doing the right things you should see some impressive results
