After I've finished work, I like to do about an hour of exercise before I have my dinner. I think it rounds the day off nicely, especially if you have been sat in an office all day.
One of my favourite types of exercise is Yoga. I have a pack of yoga cards made by an American yoga teacher called Glenda Twining. I've had them for about a year and a half, and they are extremely good. It's a wonderful way to exercise all the muscles of your body, and also have a good stretch.
The problem is, I also really like being outdoors, and it's getting to that time where it's still light for a short while when I first get home, so the idea of going out for a walk on the hill after work is very tempting. However, I was concerned that I would miss out on my yoga exercises if I did this.
However, I have now come up with a fantastic solution:
Hilltop Yoga.
It works like this:
It takes me 20 minutes to walk up onto the hill, I do 20 minutes of yoga postures up on the hill, with the fresh air and the deep blue sky above me, and then it takes me 20 minutes to walk back home again - thus giving me a nice, well-rounded hour of exercise.
When it gets to about April or May, and the afternoons are warm enough for me to get out on my bike, I'll do a bike version - ride up onto the hill, through the woods until I reach a clearing in the woods, do a few yoga postures, then cycle home again.
What a great way to end a day of sitting in a office!
