Everything worth having requires some sacrifices. Any fitness program, exercise device, or diet that promises you quick, easy results or tells you that you can "eat yourself thin" is only an exercise in wishful thinking.
Understanding what to do is pretty easy-eat less, move more. The challenge is to actually do it. Every time you go to the gym to work out, you will be giving up something else you could be doing. It is too easy to find excuses for quitting an exercise program, or never starting at all.
You can have a great body. Anyone can.
What separates the people who succeed from the one's who don't is commitment and motivation. If you really want to see changes in your body, you will need to make the commitment to working out consistently and eating the right amount of healthy foods. Once you start your exercise program, it won't be long before motivation or the lack of it will become either your greatest asset or the number-one roadblock to your success.
Going beyond skin-deep
Lots of people say they want a "hot body” but most aren't willing to do what it takes to get it. Why? Because deep down the wish for a perfect figure isn't strong enough to overcome the desires of the moment.
“I know I should work out, but I'm so tired” and “That's so fattening, but it looks so good!” are familiar taunts that rant through the mind when trying to get in shape. Failure is the result of succumbing to the chatter and eventually giving up.
Play a bigger game
Since the surface reasons are not enough to keep most people motivated, it can be helpful to expand your goals beyond mere appearance, or even physical health.
A bigger game would be to use your exercise program as a vehicle to strengthen your character, your self-trust and self-love. Make your fitness program the hero's journey where you confront and overcome obstacles, both from the outside world and within yourself. Your alarm goes off signaling that it is time to go to the gym, you get up and go because you said you would, because you keep your word, because you are too powerful to let a little sleepiness sway you from your mission.
Approaching your exercise and nutrition plans this way will help you achieve the best body for you as a side-effect. The real reward: the inner strength you develop will open the door to a more fulfilling life full of gratitude, courage and inspiration.
