Vigorous exercise such as rebounding increase lymph flow by 15 to 30 times. Contrary to blood which is pumped by the heart, the lymph is totally dependent on physical exercise for its movement.
If you want to do cardio exercise and get a good aerobic effect without taxing the joints, you can rebound on a mini trampoline. This is an excellent way to boost your metabolism and cleanse the lymphatic system.
Of the various systems, lymphatic system is least understood by most people. The human body is composed of roughly 65 percent fluid, which are kept clean and stagnation-free by the lymphatic system. This system transports to the blood a clear fluid called lymph that carries immune cells ('lymphocytes') and protects the body against antigens.
The lymphatic system consists of organs (bone marrow, lymph nodes, spleen, and thymus), ducts, and nodes. It is connected to every organ of the body, except the heart. The smallest unit of the system, the microscopic lymph capillaries located between cells, join to form lymph vessels (lymphatics) that enter lymph nodes. At the node, the lymph is enriched with lymphocytes and cleaned of metabolic debris. The lymph system nourishes the body's cells by brining nutrients to it and transporting away the body's toxins. If this flow is impaired, the lymph becomes toxic. The sheer volume of work often exceeds the liver and kidneys' ability to cleanse, and the waste accumulates in blood and lymphatic channels and conditions like tonsillitis, appendicitis and fibrocystic breasts appear.
Contrary to blood which is pumped by the heart, the lymph is totally dependent on physical exercise for its movement. Vigorous exercise such as rebounding increase lymph flow by 15 to 30 times.
The lymphatic vessels have one-way valves, which allows lymph fluid to flow unidirectional – usually upward away from gravity. When you jump on a mini-trampoline, the body experiences zero gravitational pull at the top of the bounce and nearly double (or even triple, depending on how high you can jump) the force of gravity at the bottom. The up and down movements increases the lymph flow by rhythmically opening and closing the one-way valves.
Vertical jumping is also an excellent impact exercise for strengthening and building the bones. It provides a good workout without impacting the joints as other forms of exercise, particularly running, do. Apart from health benefits, trampolining is a cool way to burn fat.
Trampolining also promotes balance, co-ordination, and alertness.
The best thing about rebounding with trampolines is that everyone, young or old, relish this pleasurable activity. Haven't you seen children enjoy jumping on a bed? You could be listening to your ipod or watching your favorite show on the TV while simultaneously jumping on the trampoline. No wonder, "cardio bounce" classes with trampolines have become very popular at many gyms.
