The Australian Red Cross has been using blood to save people's lives by putting blood into their body. Mostly when 1 person donates blood, they will save 3 lives.
But you have to be at least 45 kg, be in good heath and aged between 16 and 70.
How Do Blood donors save three lives in one donation ?
They can save 3 lives in 1 donation because after they donate some of the Australian Red Cross staff will separate the blood into 3 parts: Red cells, white cells, platelets will be separate from each other with 1/3 of donated plasma from the donor suspended into them.
How blood is produced?
The Australian Red Cross found a jelly-like substance within your bones called the bone marrow. There are 2 colors that a bone marrow can be to tell if it can produce blood cells
or not. Yellow tells it can't produce more blood cells. Red tells it can still produce blood cells. But children has more red marrows than adults have.
Blood types
In 1901 an Australian scientist, Karl Landsteiner found there a four blood types: A, B, AB and O. He told all about it to the Australian Red Cross and it spread to other countries.
