The importance of Breast Cancer, and it's awareness on the population of the world is one taken for granted by many who have that, (it could never happen to me) attitude. It can happen to anyone. Men, Women, young, and old.
Awareness of this deadly disease is at the forefront of many topics, yet I believe as a survivor myself, it should be taught in high schools during their health classes, what to look for, how to do a self breast exam and the importance of early detection.
If these ideas can be instituted in our school systems, whether it be a seminar with survivors speaking out on their experiences, or classes to educate our youth on the dangers of this disease and many others, the death toll may decrease significantly and help our society become more educated on the dangers.
Cancer does not discriminate. It does not care of the color of your skin, your age, or family genetics. It only cares of finding victims and hoping they are uneducated on the matter at hand.
I survived because I knew the signs, I knew what to look for and I pushed for an answer. I believe everyone has that right, and needs to execute it to stop this disease in it's tracks.
