This research was conducted to know the factors in the continuity use of pills among housewives in Calasiao, Pangasinan. There were 50 participants of this study, these are the housewives from Calasiao, Pangasinan The researchers employed descriptive method of research and data were gathered through interview method using structured interview guide questionnaire. Responses were treated and measured out accordingly. The interview was conducted from January 2005 to March 2005 in accumulating pertinent data among housewives as the participants of this study intended for tabular purposes. Tables provided in this research were based from the accumulated answers from the participants. These data were very significant in presenting salient points of the study.
Based on the data gathered, the following findings are hereby presented The reasons of the participants in using contraceptive pills as an effective family planning tools are safe to use, accessibility and availability, convenience, comfort, and less side effects. The perceptions of housewives on the alternative methods to be use if contraceptive pills is not effective are calendar method and IUD.
The researchers conclude that the participants are using pills as their family planning tools and the participants will adopt IUD as their alternative family planning tools. Nurses play a vital role in educating the housewives on how pills work and its other aspects.
Based on the findings and conclusions, the researchers recommend that housewives should try to know the different family planning tools to have a basis of comparison, and health workers in every barangay should also promote the best family planning tools they could suggest among housewives.
