Free From Common Colds and Flu

Common colds and flu are very rampant especially during the cold season. In order to avoid being infected with the virus, there are actually several ways to do it.

When summer ends and the cold season starts to sink in, be ready for the common illness brought to you by colds and flu. It infects almost everywhere -- home, school and office, but not everyone gets infected. Why is this so? They probably have a strong immune system or that, they really spend some time taking care of their health. As the saying goes, health is wealth.

In order to really avoid the common illness looming around, being extra vigilant with our surroundings and personal hyiene, might just do the trick. While cold viruses are present year round, the number rises as the weather cools. Cold, dry air drains the normal amount of mucus we carry in our nasal passages, making it easier for viruses to attach to the tissues in your nose.

Being vigilant with out surroundings include spotting sniffling, sneezing and wheezing person, and desperately trying to avoid being near them. Actually, if you have an X-ray vision, you would see a cloud of viruses around them. Every time they exhale, respiratory viruses come out, extending about three feet, creating a cloud around them.

There are actually so many ways to free yourself from common colds and flu.

Wash hands thoroughly and frequently.

One common advise would be to wash hands thouroughly and frequently. It is because most organisms are more easily transmitted through hand contact than any other. Try to avoid touching the face with unwashed hands, because the moment we come in contact with a virus and rub our nose or scratch the area around our eyes or mouth, it's pretty sure we're already contaminated.

Keep a bottle of hand sanitizer (alcohol-based gel)

Door handles, light switches, and even small objects we carry around are the best carriers of these viruses. Since not everyone spends the recommended 15 seconds scrubbing while washing their hands, then a bottle of hand sanitizer is a good back-up method. This is very helpful especially if you're always on-the-go.

Daily supplement of Vitamin C.

For those who have a weak immune system like me, a daily intake of Vitamin C supplement goes a long way. Vitamin C could also be found in a lot of fruits and vegetables. Regular intake of multivitamins would also do.

Exercise regularly.

Keeping your body active and functioning properly provides a good shield from common colds and flu viruses. Exercise allows a good circulation of our blood and conditioning of the different organic systems, thus allowing the proper distribution of nutrients and getting rid of harmful toxins in our body.

Have a good night's sleep.

Not most of us have the luxury of sleep, but a few hours of shut-eye or rest allows our body to recover from all the stresses and activities it has undergone. It allows the body to be ready for the next battle it will conquer as we go on with our daily activities.

Hello jhenz,
I like all these points and it is a good thing to keep them handy to remind us all how to protect ourselves the best we can from the common cold or flu.
