Prevention is Better Than Cure

Encouraging people to consider the value of their personal health. If there has been neglect in personal health, you can start today and take the steps (we know what is better but, we must make better choices) that will produce better health for the future.

Did you know that your health is priceless? No matter how rich you are, there is no amount of money that can buy it. When you take proper care of yourself, you preserve your health and its value increases but, if you neglect it, it is costly to repair. Although, we might be fortunate enough to receive a donated organ, we only have one body in this life!

Sometimes, people take better care of their automobiles than they do themselves, yet they expect their bodies to continue to function in spite of poor maintenance. An automobile will not perform as it was intended without the proper care and regular maintenance and we all know that, it is not possible to drive a vehicle unless it has fuel. The grade of fuel is also important and has an impact on the performance of the vehicle. Why is it that people think they can function and be at their best without a good diet and proper nutrients in their bodies?

Most people are familiar with the popular phrase: "You are what you eat." Colloquial or not, that is a very true statement. What we put in our bodies will either enhance or diminish our health but, consistent maintenance is what will make a significant difference in the quality of our health. You can't have a healthy breakfast one morning and then eat donuts, bacon and coffee the next day. That pattern is not healthy and can cause you unnecessary health problems.

When you value something, you will take the necessary steps to preserve it. I hope you value your life because, you are a precious living being. If you have not been taking good care of yourself, now is the time to start. Why wait until New Year's to make another resolution that you probably won't keep when today is a good day? Make a decision that you will change for yourself and do what will help you to have better health. Your positive thinking will create positive actions. Will you commit to better health one day at a time? Keep it simple and take baby steps. Don't wait until it's too late because, tomorrow is not promised to anyone. "Yesterday is gone and today is your present." What will do with your gift (of life) ?

I leave you with this thought: "The best insurance for 'good' health is prevention."
