Quit Smoking: the Surest and Easiest Way

Live a happy and healthy life, quit smoking now!

All of us are aware of the ill-effects of smoking to our health, whether on the smoker (active) or non-smoker (passive). Millions of people die every year due to smoking-related diseases such as lung cancer, emphysema, and many others. And cancer of the lungs is one of the deadliest diseases in the world. It's never too late to quit.

When you decide to quit smoking, you must do it for a purpose. Here's a list where you can choose your reason/s in doing so. You can select one or two, much better if you choose all. These will help a lot. Check it out.

I will quit smoking because:

  1. I want to smell good. (Smoking makes a person smell bad.).
  2. I want to have a fresh breath. (Smoking is one of the causes of halitosis.).
  3. I want to save some money. (Instead of buying a pack or two, save it, at the end of the month you'll be surprised how much you save.).
  4. I want to tastes the foods better. (Smoking causes lose of appetite because you can't taste the real taste of it.).
  5. I want to have a longer life. (For every stick of cigarette you smoke, you lose a minute of your life.).
  6. I want to live a healthy life. (Smoking can give you and your loved ones lung cancer, heart disease, and other diseases)
  7. I want to see my kids/grandchildren grow up (Smokers don't grow old, they die young.), and
  8. I don't want the people around me especially my family to suffer from any kind of diseases caused by my smoking. (Secondhand smoke has a more severe effect on health.)

You can add more to this list if you want. Now, how are you going to quit smoking the easiest and surest way?

You don't have to seek for a professional's advice. You don't have to follow different methods they have formulated. You don't even need a therapy either. But most of all, you don't have to spend a single cent in doing this. It's very plain and simple.

Here's how, your brain controls your body, right? Just follow the “mind over body” principle. Whatever the brain dictates, the body will follow. So if you'll inculcate in your mind that you can quit smoking, it will happen. Say it to yourself every time you wake up and as often as you can by reinforcing it with your choice of reason/s of quitting. This will probably kicked-off the habit.

Take it from a chain smoker for 10 years. I quit smoking four years ago. Now, I'm enjoying the benefits of a smoke-free home and environment and living a healthy life.

You mentioned all great reasons to quit smoking, for sure! I finally quit when I got it through my head that I didn't want to leave my children without a mother because I was continuing to smoke. I guess everyone does or not do it for different reasons, this was did it for me. Also I wore a rubber binder around my wrist and every time I wanted a cigarette I snapped it (that hurt) so I did STOP!

Being married to someone in the tobacco business was pretty tough! And Yuk on all the cigars!!

good article though one-sided and too parochial view. how about writing an article on the beneficial effects of smoking?

I'm a smoker, but I'm not a chain smoker. I've quit in the past, but ended up smoking again. Well done. Keep up with the great work. Keep on penning. Thank you so very much for sharing your wonderful talents with us. *S* Cynthia
