Step 1: Change your diet
Diet is one of the most important measures of health. What enters your body determines the composition of your muscles, tissues and blood. Certain foods may damage certain aspects of your health while others may repair your health. The key is good balance and eat in moderation. If you know that you don't eat enough vegetables, up your intake by adding a leafy dark green salad to every dinner. If you're deficient in iron, look-up which foods have a lot of it and try to encorporate more into your diet. Also, drinking enough water is extremely important to maintaining good health.
Step 2: Detoxify your body
If you've lived for many eating the standard American diet, full of excess meat, dairy, refined foods, and empty carbohydrates, chances are your body if overloaded with toxins. Your liver is probably clogged up, and your colon may be hoarding parasites, candida, or old fecal matter! In order to feel better you must first get these toxins out of your body. Do your own research on different types of cleanses. The main ones to consider (and usually in this order) are the colon, kidney/gallbladder, liver, and heavy metal cleanses. It is a good idea to see an alternative health practitioner to help guide you through the detox process comfortably.
Step 3: Supply your body with its missing nutrients
It's very likely that you are deficient in one vitamin/mineral or another. These are the building blocks of good health, so you may want to consider taking supplements for a while to improve certain conditions. Look up signs of deficiencies on the internet. I highly recommend Shari Lieberman's book, "The Real Vitamin & Mineral Book." If you don't feel comfortable taking synthetic supplements, vegetable juice is another great way to get a lot of good nutrition that you wouldn't usually fit into your day.
Step 4: Rebuilding
At this point, you probably need to reestablish the flora in your intestinal tract, and keep your body in shape through different types of excercise. Things to consider here are taking probiotics, eating fermented, high enzyme foods, and taking up a fun sport like kick-boxing or tai-chi.
At this point you will feel a big different in your overall wellbeing.
