The Importance of Sunbathing

Healthy ways to sunbath and health benefits it provides.

Despite popular belief that any exposure to the sun's rays is dangerous, science is proving again and again that sun exposure is incredibly beneficial and even necessary to the overall health of human life, plants and animals.

Vitamin D which is derived from absorption from the sun's rays is essential to life. Unfortunately the depletion of the ozone has made the outdoor tanning and exposure to the sun and activity to be avoided. The possibility of getting skin cancer has become a scare tactic to keep us fully clothed, behind closed doors, vitamin D deficient and faithful paying customers of prescription drugs and medical procedures. Ironically Vitamin D prevents numerous internal cancers of internal organs and helps keep the circadian rhythm regular providing essential serotonin.

Everyone should become familiar with their skins' pigment and avoid over-exposure to the sun. The ability to tan the skin is evident in the amount of melanin in the skin. The best rays for sun exposure are early morning and late afternoon. In the morning the sun emits ultra violet rays which are the healing rays, then around 11 am the hot infra red rays take over and its time to get out of the sun. Then again around 3 pm the infra red are gone and the ultra violet rays appear again and it is ok to expose the skin to the sun. Even those with fair skin can achieve some color if they follow these guidelines and minimize their exposure especially at the beginning of their tanning program.

Science has shown that toxic acid in the skin causes severe burning. If you detoxify your body and eliminate toxic acids you will be able to develop a natural beautiful tan.

SAD or Seasonal Affect Disorder is common especially in the winter months due to the lack of sunlight. The invention of tanning beds, thanks to modern technology can now provide the needed solar energy that is so vital for our health especially during those dark winter months. When monitored properly, regular tanning at a salon can provide exposure to the sun's rays and relief from SADs.
