National Health Services

NHS employs around 2,500 staff of whom almost 1,000 are nurses, 300 are medical staff and over 330 are professions allied to medicine and scientific and technical staff.

NHS reputation gathered from feedbacks from partner organisations shows that it has competent, skilled and highly respected workforce showing great commitment to their work and care for patients, families and carers.

Workforce Performance

The Trust Board receives compiled bi-monthly reports on workforce performance based on turnover, stability, vacancies, sickness absence, appraisal and performance compared to national workforce targets. An annual workforce report is also published.

Employment Policies

A wide range of employment policies which include grievance, disciplinary, sickness absence management and whistleblowing supports the NHS Strategy and guide managers in professional employment practice and aid staff in accomplishing their duties effectively.

Diversity and Equality

The Diversity Steering Group, chaired by a Non - Executive Director, meets quarterly in

NHS to check workforce data such as recruitment and to provide expert advice on the diversity action plan and race relations scheme.

Communicating with our Staff

Several formal and informal methods of communicating are in place which include the monthly Joint Staff Committee. This serves as the primary forum in developing employment policies, Team Brief and staff newsletters (In-Touch and What's New).

Improving Working Lives

NHS achieved Improving Working Lives practice status in January 2003 which recognises the Trust as a responsible, caring employer.

Education & Staff Development

NHS has high degree of commitment to education and staff development. It works in close partnership with the North West London Workforce Development Confederation, Thames Valley University, Buckingham and Chiltern University College and Imperial College of Science and Technology, University of London.

Workforce Development Confederation

Close association with North West London Workforce Development Confederation, which monitors HR performance of NHS organisations all over North West London and provides funding for a several national and local workforce development initiatives.
