As the cost of living increases, people are trying to find ways to stretch their current dollars further to meet the demands of their expenses. It is a problem that people all over the country are dealing with, especially now with the downturn of our nations economy. There are many people looking for solutions, one hopeful remedy on is way is the economic stimulus package, in the which the government is preparing to send everyone a check in the mail.
While it's true that I'm not an expert on helping the government fix our economy… I do know how to help people form strategies to control the cost of their medical insurance.
As the politicians continue their debate on the best way to “FIX THE HEALTHCARE CRISIS”, I work with real solutions, for REAL PEOPLE every day.
I would like to point out that there is NOT a “One size fits all” solution. I have heard the pros and cons of a single payer system like they have in Canada and other countries around the world. I hope that it never comes to that… I enjoy the freedom I have to choose my own doctor, get into the doctor and have a medical procedure done if I need it. In some countries people have to wait for surgeries, sometimes they have to wait until it's too late…
As the government officials argue about the best way to help our nation with this problem, I help people everyday. Did you know that many of our nations' uninsured are already eligible to receive a government medical plan? I believe, the solution is NOT to have the Government create more legislation requiring a certain set of rules for people. I believe that would only create more problems.
Many people think they can't afford health insurance, and some people think they don't need health insurance. The truth is there are some who really can't afford health insurance. For those people, there are government programs already in place already that can help. For people who think they don't need health insurance… well I can relate. I remember a time that I didn't think I needed health insurance. But the truth is, I've learned that I DO need health insurance, and fortunately I WAS insured when my medical bills rose over $100,000.
When we look at health insurance, it's a broad subject. There are MANY different types. Do you need traditional coverage, high deductible coverage, supplemental, prescription, Long Term Care, Disability Income? There are many questions to be answered.
There ARE real solutions, and they are available right now! The world of HEALTH INSURANCE is complicated and includes many different products. It is so complicated that one must become licensed before they can sell insurance. I know there are many “Do it yourselfer's out there who falsely believe that they can find the right solution all by themselves by cutting out the middle-man. The truth is; that if you buy insurance directly from the insurance company, YOU PAY the same price, as you would pay if you have an AGENT. Yes it's true the company pays the agent a commission. However, you don't get a discount by cutting out the AGENT. Further more, many agents represent many companies, which gives you a lot more choices. You also have an advocate that's on your side when you need help.
I work with a team of professionals that help people create strategies for individuals, families, Senior Citizens on Medicare, small business, and even nonprofit organizations every single day. In finding the right solution, I ask people many questions, including would you like to reduce your taxes? Do you own your own business? Do you have any current medical conditions? When it comes to learning the language of health insurance; terms like: PPO, HMO, Negotiated Fee, HSA's, HRA's, Flex plans, deductible's, coinsurance, and co-pays, people need a competent professional to help them. As I stated earlier, there is not a one-size fit's all, solution for everyone. Some people need coverage that includes maternity care. Other people want coverage only for catastrophic events.
The truth is, what we really want is good health. Health insurance alone can't promise us good health, however there are many things we can do to improve our health.
I must say that I'm proud to be able to help people form strategies, that fit in their budget and give them the CORRECT, coverage to meet their specific needs. I'd suggest to anyone in America who is looking for health insurance… Have a meeting with a competent insurance professional. In that meeting you can discuss options to fit your personal situation to meet your specific needs.
