How to Finally Get Rid of Your Nasty Sleeping Disorders

If you're having trouble sleeping soundly at night, try these tips...

Most of us have experienced having sleepless nights. But people with sleeping disorders experience something worse - they get very little sleep almost every night. No matter how fatigued and sleepy they might get, they couldn't get themselves to get a peaceful slumber. Many resort to sleeping pills, others have tried expensive "cures", to no avail.

If you're one of those people having sleep disorders, or you feel you're on your way there, follow these simple guidelines and tips. You might find some or all of them useful:

  1. Drink a Cup of Hot Milk Before Sleep

If you think milk is for babies and toddlers only, think again. Hot milk does something to your body and lulls you to sleep. Make sure you don't mix coffee or sugar with it. Just pure, thick milk (okat, not too thick, or you'll spend more time in the toilet room when the morning comes).
  2. Turn the Music Off

Many people think that if they play soothing music, they might just fall asleep. Well, that works for relatively fewer number of people, but generally, music keeps your senses awake, which prevents you from sleeping. Aside from that, music from electronic devices have a great deal of static sound, which agitates ear drums and brain without you knowing it. Just turn that radio or CD player off when you' re trying to get some good night's sleep.
  3. Don't Try to Sleep Immediately When Your Stomach is Full

This can very tempting especially after you've eaten five buckets of food during dinner. But no, don't sleep immediately after eating. Studies show that the churning of muscles in the stomach and large intestine during digestion can cause nightmares. A person's digestive functions is directly linked to active brain activity and rapid eye movement. In simpler terms, when you're stomach is full, it's hard for you to sleep because your brain is active, and at the same time, your body is exerting muscular energy trying to digest what you just ate. Makes sense?
  4. Forget About Problems at Work or School

I mean totally forget your problems and worries. A lot of sleeping disorders stem from psychological reasons, such as fear and worry. This is why lots of people tend to fall asleep after praying at night - the activity obviously gives them freedom from worry by confiding in a higher Being that they trust. Thus, fear and worry are lessened or eliminated.

  5. Get a Massage for Goodness Sakes

Ask your partner or some of your kids to massage you. Or, at least once a week, you may visit a spa or massage therapy center to get a soothing massage. This should help you relax and lessen sleeping problems.
